As a trauma-informed coach and mentor, I have so much compassion for the suffering that comes with mental and emotional distress. There can be a lot of shame and fear of being judged attached to the struggles we experience.
The coaching space is one where ALL of you is welcome. It is a shame-free zone. All of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences will find acceptance in our sessions. Your symptoms of distress are actually messages from your body alerting you to its need for loving attention and healing. Working together in a respectful and compassionate way with your body’s signals, we will ensure the changes you wish to make are authentic and in alignment with your nervous system capacity.
I believe in taking the time to address issues at the root-cause level because this is what leads to change that sticks. In our sessions together, we will focus on three areas: relationships, emotions, and nervous system regulation.
Read on to learn why I think these are important…
We experience life through relationships - with self, with partners, friends, family etc, with animals and nature. They are inherently linked to our wellbeing and quality of life.
The relationship you have with your self is the most important and will be one of the themes we will focus on in sessions. No matter how difficult it might seem right now, it is possible for every one of us to cultivate a compassionate relationship with self.
Emotions are carriers of important information about your life. They serve as a personal guidance system helping you to discern what choice to make and which direction to follow. We wouldn’t be able to make decisions without receiving the information that emotions contain.
Our coaching sessions are a space where your emotions are welcomed and you are supported to unpack and decode the message that they hold.
Nervous system dysregulaton is at the root of trauma and most chronic health problems.
I support you to build capacity through offering information about how the nervous system works and guiding you in simple neurosensory exercises that support regulation.
As capacity grows, we are more able to be with uncomfortable sensations and stressful situations cultivating greater resilience and confidence in navigating life challenges.
My practice focuses on partnering with you in the process of self-discovery, growth, and skill-building. I know that you are wise and have the answers you need inside of you. Sometimes we just need a little help in discerning the voice of our conditioning from the voice of our intuition.
I believe that recovery from mental and emotional distress is best served through a holistic approach that tends to the whole person and addresses the physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual aspects of life. In this way, I offer a broader and more open-minded perspective than is typically available in mainstream settings.
It can be overwhelming sifting through huge amounts of information to work out what approaches could be truly helpful and what is marketing hype. This is where my research training comes in handy! It’s motivated me to spend hundreds of hours exploring many different modalities and approaches to recovery and given me a knack for synthesising this information (along with a healthy BS detector!). Some of these approaches include nutrition, somatic practice, inner child and reparenting work, parts work, conscious dance, sacred feminine practices, energy healing, meditation, and yoga.
While it’s not my role as a coach to give advice, I can suggest ideas and share what has worked for me in my recovery journey.
A core foundation of my coaching practice is a spiritual consciousness that recognises both the physical and non-physical nature of reality. I hold life as sacred and know that every one of us is innately worthy, loving, and powerful with gifts to offer the world.
